Laser therapy update #2

If you look on the laser section of our website you'll see that Mark works for a company called Thor Photomedicine.

Thor make and sell cold laser therapy units also called low level laser therapy and they also organize training courses on why laser works and how to use the units. Mark and I originally bought one of these units to help Hubble overcome his fibrotic myopathy and it's been of tremendous value to us in many different ways.

Laser can do so much more than heal wounds faster. Tests have shown that it heals tissue faster by 'tissue' we mean skin, muscle, tendon, ligament, bone and neural tissue. It reduces inflammation at the very least equal to NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) but without the side effects, and it offers analgesia by inhibiting the nerves with effects up to 48 hours, providing the 'dose' (energy/joules) is correct.

We have already had amazing results in healing wounds, ulcers and mud fever, reduced inflammation in a laminitic mare's feet, and reduced an abscess which was behind a horse's eye with the LED probe (not laser). Mark has recently taken over the human sales as well as the equine sales, it is amazing how many lasers are being used in physiotherapy clinics as well as hospitals, the units aren't just for horses.

We're in the process of getting ourselves insured and when we get all the relevant paperwork through part of Bruin stud will be dedicated to rehabilitation using laser, this is an exciting move for us and hopefully I won't get knocked around as much!. More information will be put on the site soon. By law we cannot diagnose, we must always use the vet's diagnosis, and you must have veterinary consent before allowing the use of laser, but if you want to have a chat about laser and how it can help horses feel free to give us a call.
